One of the major natural hazards is the war going on there right now due tot he impacts of the weather since it gets warmer down which can cause flooding for a lot period of time along with droughts that can be not so great due to the impacts of the people that are currently living there. Droughts have caused Ukraine to have rivers going down since there is not enough rainfall to water it. Flooding has caused most of the disaster has come from how much is going into the water pipes that is affecting the people that live there.  This is a priority due to the fact that the droughts can have an important impact on who ever lives there and can have a high  percentage of a number of how much time since the war in Ukraine there is not enough of water for you to have for your family since there is not enough drinking water out there. Drinking water is hard to find in Ukraine since there is not enough places you can go to such as a store. The global impact is when the country ha...

Coastal erosion is a serious problem along the Black Sea coasts.  19% (800 km) of the coast is experiencing erosion rates higher than  1 m/yr  Lack of proper coastal erosion management strategies, regulations and frameworks in the riverine countries.  Need for integrated basin scale MSP and ICZM approaches. The Ukraine coast  The Ukraine coastline is 2,700 km long and includes the northern and western shores of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov The coastline may be divided into eight  areas. Landslide eroding shores made in cliffs made of clay rocks ,typical for the north - western Black Sea coast and also the Sea of Azov. The lowest erosion rate was a few centimetres pear year. Observed on strong limestone conglomerates, sandstones or other rock coasts, on the Southern Crimean coast. 2.7% of the Ukrainian population lives less than 10m above sea level 2 homes as well as industrial premises arable land and tourist sites are already exper...

Ukraine risks of extreme weather events

Image
Ukraine has  Ukraine has extreme weather and the biggest one being flooding Nova Kakhovka dam breach in Ukraine which at that time put thousands of lives at risk June 6 is  the day that this all took place.. Making the already dire conditions faced by Ukrainian people even worse. Entire villages have been swept away. The affected communities have been cut off no water and electricity. In Ukraine two million without power due to the flooding that took place. They were four related deaths and they have been confirmed by the media. This event occurred on November 27 2023 heavy flooding took place there due to the cause of the storm  that took place.  In Ukraine flooding is by far very likely a damage to the area since all the water has been put at risk and the drinking water as well. Ukraine faces many environmental risks, including mass wasting, which can be bad  and destructive: Landslides  Ukraine has many natural hazards, including landslides, which can be caused by a  variety of factors, such  as lithologic and stratigraphic conditions, hydrogeological regime, and the geomorphology of the slopes.  Climate Change  Ukraine is becoming more vulnerable to natural disasters due to climate change, including heavy precipitation, mudflows, floods and heat waves.  Infrastructure damage  The war in Ukraine has damaged or destroyed industrial facilities, including mines, chemical plants, and factories that hold hazardous substances. Waste management Without proper waste management infrastructure, waste can pile up in informal landfills, contaminating the soil and groundwater. Debris removal  Removing debris from the war can create health and environmental risks, including exposure to asbestos and contamination of water quality....

Week 5 Volcanoes in Ukraine

Image
Yes Ukraine has had volcanic activity in the past and currently has one active mud volcano: Starunya mud volcano Located in in the Ivano- Frankivsk region, this mud volcano is the only active volcano in Ukraine. It became active in 1977 after an earthquake in Romania's Vranca Mountains. The volcano's activity is a result of human activity, as the flooding of mines after oil reserves were exhausted caused the melting of rock wax and the heating of methane. The volcano is sensitive to earthquakes within a 3,000-6,000 km radius. Volcanic  activity in the past  Ukraine experienced volcanic activity related to the Caledonian and Hercynian orogenies. Basalt and alkaline volcanic rocks intruded into the Dnieper-Donets rift zone during the Hercynian orogeny.  In the past Ukraine has had volcanic activity.  Ukraine has a medium earthquake hazard, with a a 10 percent chance of a damaging earthquake in the next 50 years and about 20% of Ukraine is considered to be seismically hazardous and 22 perfect of the population live in these areas. Ukraine's seismic network includes 18 seismic stations and fourteen complex geophysical stations. The oldest station is the Lviv station which was established in 1899 and the Kiev station was created in 1994 and is part of the global seismic network. The seismicity map tells me that in Ukraine the earthquakes in the area are located in different parts of the country which is close to Kyiv a town or community that is there. The measures I will need to have is to make sure all the areas of Kyiv and Lviv are all being accounted for and making sure to find why is it happening since Ukraine has had earthquakes in the past they are less likely to occur and that is why  they are not that much resources you need to find a situation to this problem. https...
